BOLDplanning, a division of Agility, recently learned that FEMA released the funding notice for the Fiscal Year 2023 Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grant Program (RCPGP). It provides $12 million to eligible states and local governments to close known preparedness capability gaps, encourage innovative regional solutions to issues related to catastrophic incidents, and build on existing regional preparedness efforts.

The RCPGP program, as explained by the federal agency, plays an important role in implementing the National Preparedness System. It supports the building of core capabilities essential to addressing the most significant risks to the nation and achieving the National Preparedness Goal. As a reminder, these five core capabilities are:

  1. Prevention – Prevent, avoid, or stop an imminent, threatened, or actual act of terrorism.
  2. Protection – Protect our citizens, residents, visitors, and assets against the greatest threats and hazards in a manner that allows our interests, aspirations, and way of life to thrive.
