This week, August 22nd and 23rd, two members of the BOLDplanning team, John Taylor and Karla O’Grady, are out west for the 2018 AESA Annual Conference. AESA stands for the Arizona Emergency Services Association. It’s a professional organization dedicated to providing leadership and expertise in all fields of emergency services, including firefighters, emergency management professionals, law enforcement, homeland security, emergency medical services, business leaders, non-profits and other professionals who strive to keep Arizona communities safe.

Among the many intriguing topics to be discussed during the conference are lessons learned from the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, and Arizona’s Salt River Projects’ involvement in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Keynote speaker, Dr. David Griffin, will share his personal experience from a June 2007 tragedy where nine firefighters perished in a furniture warehouse fire in Charleston, South Carolina. He will also speak on his doctoral research on organizational crisis, and offer recommendations for improvement. As for the the private sector, representatives from Walgreen’s will be on hand to discuss the company’s ongoing business continuity planning and response program.

Registration for the 2018 AESA Annual Conference is now closed. But, you can still check out the full agenda online. Given the caliber of the presenters and content, you may even want to pencil in the event for next year’s travel budget (if you’ve not done so already). Details for 2019 aren’t available just yet, so keep an eye on https://www.azaesa.org and http://www.boldplanning.com.

“Our participation in AESA is time well spent,” says Karla O’Grady, BOLDplanning Customer Success Manager. “It gives us the opportunity to not only see so many of our Arizona clients, like Maricopa and Yavapai counties, and the Arizona Department of Transportation, in one location, but to also meet potential new ones who could benefit from our online planning platform.”
