The 32nd Annual Governor’s Hurricane Conference® is now underway in West Palm Beach, Florida, and as always, BOLDplanning is there (you’ll find us in booth #330). This year’s event is themed “Readiness is Everyone’s Job,” and BOLDplanning couldn’t agree more.
With thousands of emergency, continuity and mitigation plans under our belt, we know first-hand that it takes a lot of people, a lot of time, and a whole lot of effort to create a culture of preparedness. We also know that it can take just as much work, if not more, to maintain it, especially as you contend with day-to-day operations and back-to-back major weather events.
Last year’s Atlantic Hurricane Season rattled the nerves of everyone. And for good reason. With 17 named storms—three of which were Category 4 hurricanes when they made landfall—it was the most destructive season ($316 billion in damages) on record. Needless to say, readiness is top of mind for those were impacted, directly or indirectly, by these deadly storms, as well as those who followed their stories.
Attendees of the Governor’s Hurricane Conference have the unique opportunity to share in lessons learned during the 2017 season and previous ones, plus participate in 40 training sessions and 50 workshops. As the largest type forum of its kind in the nation, the conference is the premier event for the delivery of economical training and education to ensure the ability to adequately prepare for, respond to, and recover from tropical cyclones.
